We hold contracts with the US Department of Defense, the Military Reserves, Correction Facilities and Public-School Systems. With over 30 years’ experience DOCS’s Mission is to “just do the right thing” and we approach it with thoughtfulness and resilience.

Our juvenile correctional facilities in Sabillasville and Hagerstown MD are in search of a part-time General Dentist to provide problem-focused dental care in two locations. The ideal candidate will possess strong diagnostic and clinical skills with a focus on preventative hygiene and simple restoration.

Why Work in Corrections?

Working in corrections allows you to give back to a community of people that may otherwise not have any access to dental care. In this role Dentists will be provided with a full time Dental assistant as well as being able to perform fundamental dentistry and treat acutely symptomatic concerns to help get someone out of pain.

DOCS manages all staffing, documentation, invoicing/billing, and ordering of dental supplies, including PPE and instrumentation. Access to DOCS’ Chief Dental Officer 24/7 for clinical consultation and support.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform dental services within designated hours of operations (M-F 7:00 AM- 3:30 PM).
  • Utilize universal precautions for patient dental care.
  • Exam, diagnose and treat patients consistent with professional standards and defined scope of service.
  • Document patients’ needs for every dental encounter utilizing the SOAP format, update the patient health history, and obtain patient consent prior to delivering of care.
  • Keep patient information confidential and respect patients' rights to privacy, in accordance with accepted confidentiality practices for incarcerated individuals.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Dentistry Medicine (DDS/DMD)
  • Experienced clinician preferred
  • Recent graduates encouraged to apply
  • One (1) year of experience in oral surgery preferred
  • Active and unrestricted State Dental License
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
